Zlatan Ibrahimovic Calls Out LeBron: LeBron James is a Poser Who “Doesn’t Look Good.”
LeBron James is a poser. This is obvious to anybody without an agenda. Being a poser does not immediately make you a bad person. Far from it. In fact, being famous and being a poser go pretty well hand-in-hand. If you are famous, you probably care about how the world perceives you, and if that is the case, you probably spend a great deal of time manufacturing your look.
So simply saying, “LeBron James is poser” is not itself an insult. Most athletes and celebrities are posers by dint of their status as celebrities and athletes. But LeBron James is a poser–and a bad one–because he uses his influence and platform to the detriment of society. Beyond that, he is an ignorant–and somehow arrogant–fool who speaks when he shouldn’t and stays silent when he should speak.
LeBron James is a Poser Whose Camera Awareness is as Good as His Court Awareness
First a clarification; yes, LeBron James is a poser. You can argue this point, but you would be wrong. LeBron James is a poser because he knows the cameras are always on. To literally see what this entails, simply type in “LeBron James reading” and tell me what you see. Here are the results
LeBron James knows when the cameras are on him. This is a great thing for somebody who has been in the national and international spotlight since he was a teenager. Camera awareness, just like court awareness, is something that will pay dividends in the long run. It is why LeBron is rarely caught doing or saying something entirely stupid.
But, thanks to his camera awareness, LeBron knows it is a good thing to be “caught” reading. So LeBron routinely has a book on him in public. The issue is, LeBron is always at the beginning of these books. Look at LeBron reading and check out his progress; there is plenty of work left in those books.
Why? Simple, LeBron grabs a book and reads when he knows the cameras will be on him. It is a smart play, immensely so, but it is also clear the man is posing for the cameras. LeBron is a poser, and a smart one; he knows the cameras will be on him so he grabs a book and begins reading. Hey, he is probably actually reading every time the cameras are on him, but there is a reason we never see him with a paltry amount on the left of the book and a huge swath on the right. This is all a part of the LeBron James Experience.
Good at Sports Does Not Mean You are Good at Anything Else… It Usually Denotes the Opposite
But that is the innocuous part of the LeBron James experience. Because LeBron has 49+ million followers on Twitter and another 80+ million on Instagram, when LeBron James does and says something, people listen. They listen because he is one of the greatest basketball players of all-time. They do not listen because he is one of the greatest minds of our generation.
In fact, he is one of the worst voices we constantly hear from. Yet, it is not his fault. If you are that good at basketball, it rationally goes that you are probably lacking in other areas, like foreign policy and even race relations in your particular country. Yes, if you are an athlete or celebrity you are probably still ignorant about many things, even the thing you care about.
But LeBron is immune from almost all criticism, even when he is wrong. We live in such a warped society that celebrity gets confused for genius all the time. Therefore, somebody like LeBron feels confident speaking out about things he knows nothing about. People agree with him, applaud him, and say how powerful his message is to them. However, a basketball player is not an international relations expert the same way an ambassador cannot torch an NBA player in a game of 1-on-1. So despite all the accolades, his status as a basketball star does not make him an expert or even remotely close to correct.
Zlatan to LeBron: Just Shutup and Dribble
Do you know who knows this? Other famous athletes. Athletes like Zlatan Ibrahimovic. For those that do not know, Zlatan (so good he gets the one name treatment) is one of the best soccer players of the past 25 years. He is a goal-scoring stud who has some of the greatest highlight-reel goals ever.
Zlatan is not on the same level as LeBron if you wanted to do a cross-sports analysis, but it is not like he is trying to go up five weight classes in this bout. So when Zlatan calls out LeBron it is not like a mosquito trying to bite a dragon. He knows the type of status LeBron lives at and is (rightfully) comfortable telling him to shut up and dribble when he thinks the situation warrants it, which is exactly what happened recently.
“He [LeBron] is phenomenal at what he’s doing, but I don’t like when people have some kind of status, they go and do politics at the same time. Do what you’re good at. Do the category you do. I play football (soccer) because I’m the best at playing football.”
LeBron James is doing politics all the time lately because he is a poser and it is the cause de célèbre of the day. LeBron knows what looks good and what will ingratiate him to his fans. Right now, that is the world of politics, racism, and international relations. But LeBron does not know what he is talking about. At all. This was LeBron defending China while attacking Daryl Morey as ignorant and selfish for defending the freedom fighters in Hong Kong.

What Does LeBron Actually Care About
LeBron–like Mark Cuban–cares mostly about his wallet. When he has to decide between doing what is right and what makes will make him money, LeBron takes the money. But listen to how sanctimonious LeBron is in that message. If you think he learned something, think again because here he is responding to Zlatan.
LeBron responded after Zlatan Ibrahimovic criticized him for his activism.
“I’m kind of the wrong guy to actually go at because I do my homework.” pic.twitter.com/VyKgBrYuiz

Make sure you listen to the end, “I speak from a very educated mind. Um, so, I’m kinda the wrong guy to go at because I do my homework.” Note; whenever anybody has to go out of their way to mention they are educated or drops their IQ into a conversation or debate, you are not talking to somebody who is educated or an Einstein. You are probably talking to somebody who only reads in public and only the first part of the book.
This is LeBron. He has backed himself into a corner because either he is ignorant about the subject of China (totally fine) or he is educated about it and backs China, thus making him a terrible person to listen to on the subject. And somebody that promotes a genocidal regime. Those are the only two stances on China: ignorant or educated and promoting genocide (or a third, supporting China to support your wallet, which is even more disgusting).
The Arrogance of the Ignorant and Zlatan’s Real Sin; Revealing LeBron James is a Poser to the Rest of the World
Listen and watch those two clips again. Listen to the poser’s unbridled arrogance in each. He is an ignorant jackass, but he a dangerous jackass thanks to his 40+ million followers on Twitter and 80+ million Instagram followers. People listen to this fool. Yes, fool. That is who he is, but because he is a celebrity we are supposed to listen? Absolutely not.
That is Zlatan’s point, “I don’t do politics. If I would be a political politician, I would do politics. That is the first mistake people do when they become famous and they become in a certain status. Stay out of it. Just do what you do best because it doesn’t look good.”
Zlatan is as on target here as many of his best strikes throughout his career. LeBron should stick to what he does best “because it doesn’t look good” when he supports China. It doesn’t look good when he backs the same policies that have plagued black America since the 1960s. Nor when he supports Black Lives Matter which wants to dismantle the nuclear family. He claims to be educated, but would not know what the Moynihan Report is if somebody smacked him in the face with it.
Zlatan thinks LeBron looks silly because LeBron is ignorant. But LeBron dismisses it because he is an ignorant poser play-acting as a civil rights leader so, of course, he cannot stay silent. But Zlatan is talking to him athlete to athlete. Zlatan is suggesting to LeBron maybe you sit this one out (and many others) because you don’t know what you are talking about and it “doesn’t look good.” That is why LeBron is so hurt; because not looking good is the worst thing imaginable for a poser. And that is Zlatan’s real sin; revealing to the world LeBron looks like a fool, and there is no bigger fool than an ignorant, foolish poser.
